I don’t know about anyone else, but I always go through social media before I go to sleep at night. A lot of the time, this keeps me up. I might have found something interesting on a social media network and kept reading into it, or I might be up late texting or snapchatting friends. I know going on your phone before you go to sleep isn’t good for you, so I decided to lookup the exact reasons why.
The light from your phone reduces the amount of melatonin you receive so it makes it harder to fall asleep and stay asleep.
By keeping our minds engaged watching tv or reading an article on your phone, technology can trick your brain into thinking it needs to stay awake.
Regularly using a computer late at night is associated with sleep disorders and stress.
Although I can’t see the direct effects of number three, I can definitely say I’ve experienced the first two. I almost always have a hard time falling asleep, and if I can’t fall asleep within the first twenty minutes, I usually return to using my phone. Maybe I should start putting my phone down a little earlier before I go to bed.
